Online Art Therapy
If you are looking to have therapy sessions from the comfort of your home, our online sessions provide a safe space for self-expression, healing, and personal growth. With the same benefits as traditional in-person art therapy, our experienced art therapist will guide you through the creative process to explore emotions, thoughts, and experiences, fostering self-awareness and insight. Online art therapy offers the flexibility and convenience of engaging in therapy without leaving your home, ensuring that you can prioritize your well-being while maintaining a comfortable environment.
At Ayana Art Therapy, we understand that online sessions may not be suitable for everyone. Your safety and well-being are our utmost priority. If, upon assessment, our therapist determine that online art therapy may not meet your therapeutic needs, they will recommend an alternative form of therapy that is better aligned with your unique circumstances.
We want you to know that we are dedicated to working closely with you, exploring various options to ensure you receive the appropriate care and support you deserve on your therapeutic journey. If you have any concerns or questions regarding the suitability of online sessions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We are here to provide guidance, answer your queries, and assist you in making informed decisions about your path to healing and personal growth.
- Session Access: An exclusive Teams or Google Meet link will be sent to you prior to your session. Once you access the link, our therapist will admit you into the meeting, ensuring a secure and confidential environment.
- Session Recording: For your privacy and confidentiality, session recording by either party is not permitted unless exclusive written consent has been provided. We respect your right to maintain the confidentiality of your sessions.
- Camera Usage: During the session, please keep your camera on throughout, unless there is a specific and discussed reason for turning it off. This helps maintain an interactive and meaningful therapeutic experience.
- Mental Health Emergencies: In the event of a mental health emergency, it is the client’s responsibility to seek appropriate medical attention in their local area. We kindly request that you provide your therapist with contact information for emergency health services in your vicinity. Please note that our therapists are not responsible for providing emergency services.
- Find a quiet, private room where you can close the door for your privacy and comfort. You may want to settle down in this room 10 minutes before the session begins and have some tissues and a warm drink ready.
- Make sure you have a reliable internet connection and that your camera and headphones are working properly.
- Connect your device to a power source or ensure that it has enough battery to last through the entire session without interruption.
- Gather as many art materials as possible for the session. For first-time clients, markers, pens, pencils, and paper are sufficient. Your therapist will guide you on what materials to have on hand for future sessions, and there’s no need to buy expensive materials as we believe in creatively upcycling objects found around your home for your art-making process.
- Both you and your therapist should keep a portfolio of the images you create during the session. You are required to take a good-quality picture of your artwork and share it with the therapist for their record-keeping. Depending on your preference, you can either store the image in a file or safe space, or you may discard it once you give a digital copy of your art work to the therapist.
- Finally, be kind to yourself after the session, as it can be physically and emotionally intense. Take some time to relax or do something that brings you comfort.
